Tether Partners with Guinea to Propel Digital Transformation via Blockchain
Tether, a prominent entity in the digital asset sector, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Republic of Guinea. This strategic partnership aims to leverage blockchain and peer-to-peer technologies to drive economic growth and establish Guinea as a frontrunner in Africa’s digital transformation, according to Tether.
Focus on Innovation and Education
The MoU emphasizes Tether's dedication to advancing blockchain adoption globally, with a focus on innovation, education, and sustainable technology practices. A significant aspect of this initiative is the collaboration with Cité des Sciences et de l’Innovation de Guinée to enhance blockchain expertise and education. This partnership aims to introduce educational programs across Guinea’s public and private sectors, fostering local talent and raising awareness about digital technologies.
Supporting Guinea's Digital Economy
As part of the agreement, Tether will support Guinea’s “Innovation City” project, designed to solidify the country’s position in the digital economy. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader goals of promoting economic growth and advancing technological innovation. Tether's previous collaborations, such as the Plan ₿ Forum in Switzerland and educational initiatives in Türkiye and Uzbekistan, underscore its commitment to fostering global blockchain adoption.
Leadership and Strategic Vision
Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting the potential of blockchain and digital technologies to transform Africa. He emphasized Tether's commitment to implementing efficient blockchain solutions that benefit both public and private sectors, setting the stage for Guinea to emerge as a leader in technological innovation.
M. Djiba Diakité, Minister and Chief of Staff of the Presidency of Guinea, described the MoU as a significant strategic advancement towards inclusive and sustainable digital transformation. He noted the country’s ambition to integrate cutting-edge technologies, reinforcing Guinea's position as a leader in Africa's innovation landscape through the Simandou 2040 program.
M. Alpha Bacar Barry, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the MoU's role in strengthening educational and scientific infrastructures. Pr Abdoulaye Baniré Diallo, CSIG project coordinator, highlighted the initiative's potential to develop local skills and build a sustainable digital economy in Guinea.
