SingularityNET (AGIX) Invests $53M in AI Infrastructure to Propel AGI Development
SingularityNET (AGIX), a prominent entity in decentralized AI infrastructure and a founding member of the Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (ASI), has revealed an initial $53 million investment aimed at advancing Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Artificial Superintelligence (ASI), according to SingularityNET.
Investment Focus
The first phase of this project will utilize half of the $53 million to create the world’s first modular supercomputer designed for decentralized AGI evolution and ASI research. This phase also includes the development of High-Performance Computing (HPC) and AI data centers. These infrastructures will leverage Ecoblox’s ExaContainer modular data center solutions, integrating advanced GPUs and CPUs from Nvidia, AMD, and Tenstorrent, as well as AI servers from ASUS and GIGABYTE.
Technological Advancements
SingularityNET’s supercomputer is specifically designed to optimize the training of Deep Neural Networks (DNNs), Large Language Models (LLMs), and hybrid neural-symbolic computing architectures like OpenCog Hyperon. This infrastructure aims to enhance the speed and efficiency of computational tasks, facilitating AGI continual learning and self-improvement. Recent hardware acquisitions include a range of advanced GPU systems, such as Nvidia L40S GPUs, AMD Instinct and Genoa, Tenstorrent Wormhole server racks, and Nvidia GB200 (Nvidia Blackwell) systems.
Global Decentralized Network
Additional resources will be allocated to constructing modular compute containers that can be positioned globally and relocated as needed. These containers will act as decentralized hubs for a network of heterogeneous computing devices, leveraging agent-based computing frameworks created by SingularityNET and its ASI Alliance partners, including Fetch.ai and Ocean Protocol.
Leadership and Vision
Dr. Ben Goertzel, CEO of SingularityNET and ASI Alliance, highlighted the importance of sophisticated learning algorithms, cognitive architectures, and massive processing infrastructure in the AI field's recent progress. “The novel neural-symbolic AI approaches developed by the SingularityNET AI team decrease the need for data, processing, and energy somewhat relative to standard deep neural nets. However, the need for significant supercomputing facilities remains,” he stated.
Jim Keller, CEO of Tenstorrent, praised SingularityNET’s efforts: “The work that Dr. Goertzel and his team are doing to bring AGI into both their supercomputers and end products is great. Tenstorrent’s heterogeneous compute featuring our CPU, RISC-V, and AI accelerator technology are the perfect fit to help them accomplish this goal.”
Related Developments
In March, Fetch.ai, another founding member of ASI, announced a $100 million investment into Fetch Compute to deploy Nvidia H200, H100, and A100 GPUs, creating a more powerful platform for developers. These investments from ASI members aim to create a robust GPU and CPU compute network, reinforcing the alliance’s commitment to developing decentralized AI technologies.
Future Prospects
The advancements will lead to the establishment of ‘ASI Hyperon’ Nodes, integrating technologies from SingularityNET, Fetch.ai, Ocean Protocol, and later HyperCycle and NuNet. These initiatives aim to enhance the utility of the newly merged ASI token within decentralized physical infrastructures, allowing node holders to engage actively with AI systems and participate as stakeholders.
