Saudi Arabia and NVIDIA Collaborate to Establish AI Infrastructure
In a significant move to advance its technological capabilities, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has entered into a strategic partnership with NVIDIA, a leading player in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and computing. The collaboration aims to transform Saudi Arabia into a global leader in AI, cloud computing, digital twins, and robotics, according to NVIDIA Newsroom.
Strengthening AI Capabilities
During a state visit involving U.S. President Donald Trump and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, NVIDIA's founder and CEO Jensen Huang outlined plans to build sovereign AI infrastructure. This infrastructure will leverage NVIDIA's expertise to position Saudi Arabia among the world's hyperscale AI leaders.
“AI is essential infrastructure for every nation,” Huang stated, emphasizing the importance of building AI resources in collaboration with HUMAIN, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. This initiative aligns with the Kingdom’s vision to harness advanced digital infrastructure.
Key Initiatives and Investments
The partnership will see HUMAIN investing in AI factories with a projected capacity of up to 500 megawatts, utilizing NVIDIA's advanced GPUs. The initial phase will include an 18,000 NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell AI supercomputer. Additionally, the deployment of the NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud will facilitate the simulation and testing of AI solutions through digital twins.
NVIDIA plans to enhance the computing ecosystem by training thousands of developers in accelerated computing and AI. The Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) will collaborate with NVIDIA to deploy up to 5,000 Blackwell GPUs, supporting smart city solutions and training scientists and engineers in AI model development.
Supporting Vision 2030
These initiatives are integral to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims for economic diversification and digital leadership. H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, president of SDAIA, highlighted the partnership's role in advancing the Kingdom's data and AI capabilities, contributing to a knowledge-based society and digital economy.
The collaboration is expected to drive innovation across various sectors, including energy, manufacturing, and logistics, using AI and digital twins to enhance growth, efficiency, and sustainability.
