NVIDIA Expands AI Factory Digital Twins with OpenUSD and SimReady
In a significant advancement in AI factory simulation, NVIDIA has announced the expansion of its Omniverse Blueprint for AI factory digital twins to support OpenUSD schemas, as revealed at the COMPUTEX 2025 event. This development introduces new tools designed to enhance the simulation of data center design, focusing on power, cooling, and networking infrastructure, according to NVIDIA.
SimReady Standardization Workflow
A key feature of this expansion is the SimReady Standardization Workflow, which provides a comprehensive framework for implementing SimReady assets across various simulation runtimes. Initially developed for NVIDIA's internal teams, this resource is now available to the public, aiming to streamline workflows for developers engaged in optimizing digital data centers. This includes areas such as electrical and thermal management, temperature control, and workload efficiency within servers.
The SimReady Standardization Workflow is designed to be industry-agnostic, offering standardized processes and deliverables necessary for developing and optimizing digital twins. Developers can utilize this workflow to identify simulation domains, define asset capabilities, and create specifications within the OpenUSD platform.
Integrating OpenUSD with Data Center Digital Twins
The workflow outlines the integration of electrical and thermal attributes into OpenUSD assets for digital twin use, alongside NVIDIA's Omniverse Blueprint. It provides tools, templates, and best practices for critical steps such as domain identification, cross-functional team assembly, and data mapping.
Partners like ETAP and Cadence are already implementing the workflow in collaboration with NVIDIA, aiming to develop SimReady specifications for electrical and thermal cooling data. This collaboration is crucial for scaling SimReady methodologies to meet AI factory simulation requirements.
Future Developments and Availability
Looking ahead, NVIDIA plans to continually update the SimReady Standardization Workflow to incorporate the latest best practices for OpenUSD and SimReady assets. Developers are encouraged to explore and utilize these resources to enhance their simulation capabilities.
The company has also invited stakeholders to join the upcoming COMPUTEX 2025 keynote and GTC Taipei sessions for further insights into these advancements. Additionally, NVIDIA will host an OpenUSD Insiders livestream on May 28, providing a recap of the Omniverse Blueprint for AI factory digital twins and other key announcements from GTC Taipei.
