NVIDIA has announced the release of Cosmos Predict-2, a cutting-edge AI model aimed at enhancing the development of autonomous vehicles (AVs). This new model, designed for improved future world state prediction, is part of NVIDIA's effort to accelerate synthetic data generation essential for training, testing, and validation in AV development, according to NVIDIA's official blog.

Cosmos Predict-2 Enhances AV Training

Cosmos Predict-2 builds on its predecessor, Cosmos Predict-1, by better understanding context from both text and visual inputs. This results in fewer inaccuracies and richer detail in generated videos, significantly speeding up synthetic data generation on NVIDIA's advanced systems like the GB200 NVL72 and DGX Cloud. This advancement allows developers to create high-quality synthetic data, crucial for next-gen AV architectures.

Unlocking New Data Sources with Post-Training Cosmos

By post-training Cosmos models on AV-specific data, developers can generate multi-view videos from single-view footage, such as dashcam data. This capability provides access to new data sources, enhancing AV training datasets. NVIDIA's research team has utilized 20,000 hours of real-world driving data to improve model performance, especially under challenging conditions like fog and rain.

Industry Integration and New Developer Tools

Prominent AV companies, including Plus and Oxa, have integrated Cosmos Predict to scale and accelerate their autonomous solutions. Additionally, NVIDIA introduced Cosmos Transfer as a microservice preview, facilitating dataset augmentation and photorealistic video generation. This is part of NVIDIA's broader effort to empower developers with tools that simplify end-to-end AV development.

Advancements in AV Safety with NVIDIA Halos

NVIDIA's commitment to AV safety is reinforced through its Halos platform, integrating comprehensive safety solutions with AI research. Industry leaders like Bosch and Nuro have joined NVIDIA's AI Systems Inspection Lab to ensure safe integration of their products, underlining the collaborative approach to advancing AV safety.

These developments highlight NVIDIA's strategic focus on leveraging AI to transform the AV landscape, providing developers with sophisticated tools to innovate and improve the safety and efficiency of autonomous vehicles.
